The 2014–2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (K2 platform) uses an HMI (Human Machine Interface) module as the brain of its infotainment system. Depending on trim, your Silverado may have come with the base 4-inch IO4 display, the 8-inch IO5 touchscreen, or the 8-inch IO6 touchscreen with factory navigation. White Automotive & Media Services (WAMS) offers a full range of OEM upgrades for the K2 Silverado — from adding a touchscreen where there was none, to retrofitting factory navigation, to full Apple CarPlay and Android Auto kits. Everything ships VIN-programmed, no dealer visit required.
Note: The 2019 model year is a split. The redesigned full T1 Silverado 1500 uses a CSM, not an HMI. The 2019 Limited / LD is the carryover K2 and does use the HMI. If you have a 2019 Silverado and are unsure which platform it is, send your VIN to WAMS.
Available Infotainment Upgrades
IO4 to IO5/IO6 Screen Upgrade (2014–2016)
If your 2014–2016 Silverado 1500 came with the base 4-inch IO4 display, WAMS offers a complete upgrade to the full 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ($1,269.99). The kit includes the 8-inch touchscreen display, HMI module, and all required hardware — a true factory-spec upgrade, not an aftermarket head unit. Available at WAMS Silverado & Sierra Upgrades.
GM Factory IO6 Navigation Upgrade
Add factory GM navigation to your K2 Silverado 1500 already equipped with the 8-inch IO5 touchscreen ($649.99). The IO6 Navigation Upgrade/Retrofit upgrades the HMI to IO6 functionality, enabling the factory GM navigation system without swapping the display or housing.
Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Upgrade
For 2013–2015 K2 Silverado 1500 trucks: WAMS offers a complete Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Upgrade Kit ($679.99) that includes a new OEM HMI module, 8-inch screen, and radio module. For 2016 trucks with an existing IO5/IO6 screen, activation programming ($149.99) may apply. Contact WAMS with your VIN to confirm the right option for your truck.
Denali Cluster Upgrade Kit
Replace the base instrument cluster in your 2014–2020 K2 Silverado 1500 with the OEM full-color Denali uplevel digital cluster. VIN-programmed and plug-and-play. Programming service also available separately for owners who source the cluster hardware themselves.
HD Radio Upgrade
Add factory HD Radio capability to your K2 Silverado 1500 HMI infotainment system ($399.99). Programming-only service using genuine GM diagnostic tools.
Front / Rear Seat Entertainment Retrofit
Factory Blu-Ray / DVD rear seat entertainment retrofit for the 2014–2019 K2 Silverado 1500 ($299.99). OEM hardware, VIN-programmed.
About the 2014–2019 Silverado 1500 Infotainment System
The K2 Silverado 1500 uses an HMI (Human Machine Interface) module — versions 1.1, 2.0, or 2.5 depending on trim. The display is one of three types: IO4 (4-inch non-touch, base trims), IO5 (8-inch touchscreen, no navigation), or IO6 (8-inch touchscreen with factory navigation). The IO4 is upgradeable to IO5/IO6 via the complete screen upgrade kit. IO5-equipped trucks can be upgraded to IO6 navigation via programming. IO6 trucks can have CarPlay activated or have maps updated. All HMI vehicles cover model years 2014 through 2019 Limited/LD — the redesigned 2019 T1 Silverado uses a CSM and is not covered here.
